Course Title: "Can Do Magic!"

Course Description: Students learn different magic tricks each week

Course Objectives:

Students will:

1. improve self-esteem by learning how to perform simple magic tricks for the entertainment of others.
2. learn the importance of reading as a way to learn more magic... or anything else!
3. improve digital dexterity and hand-eye coordination through practicing the principles of sleight-of-hand.
4. gain self-confidence in public speaking as a result of performing in front of other students.
5. learn how to behave as members of an audience for magic shows and other live entertainment.
6. improve critical thinking and problem solving skills through specific projects.
7. practice conflict resolution, good citizenship and effective social skills in an entertaining format.

Ideal Ages: 3rd through 5th grade or middle school

Enrollment: minimum class size 10, maximum 20

Ideal Class Times: weekly, 60 minutes per class

Lesson Plans: A typical course consists of 8 weeks for beginners and 8 weeks for intermediate (those who have taken beginner course). Longer or shorter courses can easily be adapted to fit a particular school's needs.

Classroom Set-Up: Prefer quiet, classroom-type setting. Library is ideal. Tables and chairs are best, but students can sit on the floor if necessary. Video monitor helpful.
